THALAWATHUGODA BIODIVERSITY STUDY PARK (DIYASARU PARK)
Diyasaru Park, previously known as Thalawathugoda Wetland Park or Thalawathugoda Biodiversity Study Park, is a covering 60-acre urban wetland oasis situated in the Thalawathugoda area of Sri Jayewardenepura, Colombo District, Sri Lanka. This unique park encompasses a diverse range of wetland habitats, including marshes, flooded woodlands, lakes, and ponds, making it a haven for wildlife and nature enthusiasts.
Diyasaru Park serves several key purposes, including providing visitors with unique nature-based experiences and demonstrating the wise use of Colombo’s wetlands while integrating green infrastructure for urban development.
Diyasaru Park stands as one of the wetland parks in Colombo, showcasing the beauty and richness of urban wildlife. With a concept to “Release the Stress of Urbanization,” the park’s primary objective is to provide visitors with an opportunity to learn about and immerse themselves in nature while enjoying its wonders. It is managed by the Wetland Management Division of the Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation (SLLDC)
